So I just finished watching the Cartoon Network series,”Generator Rex”, and I’ve got to say, I liked it. MASSIVE issues with the law of conservation of mass/energy, but when you look past that, it was a pretty cool show, conceptually. I did kind of feel like the final season was both a bit rushed and lacked focus. I think that’s kind of a problem indicative of cartoons put out by Man of Action, but was less noticeable in the Ben 10 series because of how drawn out that was. With Generator Rex, it kind of felt like the production team was really torn of making a long, drawn out epic plot line, or doing a more episodic, action packed series and somewhere along the way just sort of split the difference. I would have liked to delve into Rex’s past more, seen more of the role of Van Kleis in the nanite event, seen more of Caesar’s past… there was a lot that could have been explained a bit more in depth, but the E.V.O. battles were always great to watch and Rex was certainly a very new take on a superhero archetype.
Now what I’d really like to do is get my hands on copies of the two issues of M. Rex that came out in 1999 that the series was based on.
